Harry Potter Party

All aboard the Hogwarts Express!

I know I say this every party…. But I was REALLY excited for this one! We absolutely LOVE Harry Potter and this was such a fun party to put together.

I bought a wax seal (which I am now obsessed with and seal everything I can) and made the most authentic invitations I could think of! In the envelope was their Hogwarts acceptance letter and ticket for the Hogwarts Express. Found on Etsy!

Hogwarts!

I bought the backdrop and house banner’s off “Wish” for dirt cheap like a year ago! I made the floating letters as a very large mobile and found these candles at the dollar store

The treat bags in the very back are gift bags from the dollar store that I added the Hogwarts symbol to. Hedwig was one of Boston’s birthday gifts which he LOVES! She talks and moves so that really added to the “magic”

I had so much fun making all the food for this party.

Sorting hats

Cookies and waffle cones filled with m&ms for each house. They broke open the cone to find out which house they were sorted into. It was so fun watching them all be excited and cheer for their house!

This is my favourite cake I have ever made! I love that little Hagrid cake, and it was delicious!

Nimbus 2000
I though these turned out so cute!

Quaffle Balls

Deathly Hallows Cookies

Professor Sprout’s Vegetable Garden & Sorcerer’s Scones

Huffle Puffs

I made the quidditch rings from dollar store supplies. Brian added the Harry Potter which I though was the perfect touch :)

Fainting Fancies and Gryffindor Grapes

There were SO many fun food things I wanted to make for this party, so I decided to make the whole Honeydukes candy store separate from the table so I could do all the things I wanted!!

I painted this Honeydukes sign.

I don’t have room for a second table at my house so I just used my counter but it still turned out cute and the kids LOVED doing their own “shopping” at the candy store. It was so fun!

Golden Snitches

I have so many favourites this party, but this is definitely one of them! Made out of Ferraro Roche chocolates

Magic Wands

Amortentia (Love Potion)

Found these cute tubes at the dollar store, filled with slime

Pumpkin Pasties

Chocolate Frogs

Another favourite! I bought a chocolate mold off Amazon and made these frogs that turned out so good!!

Dementor Recovery Chocolate Bars

Bertie Botts Beans and Dragon Eggs

I got the beans from Party City and covered Kinder Eggs with gold foil.

When the kids first came I had a Harry Potter seek-and-find paper that they worked on until everyone arrived.

We then went to Ollivander’s and got our wands!

I made the wands with wooden knitting needles, hot glue, small beads and paint! I tried to copy some real ones from the movie to make them authentic!

So cute!!

We then played Harry Potter Spot-it and after the game they all picked out a flying key which all had a number on the back.

They took their key to Eeylops Owl Emporium and found the matching lock to their owl!

We then had our sorting ceremony!

This was the best sorting hat I could find haha. But they sat down, put on the hat, then broke their cones open! It was so fun!!

They then went to Madam Malkins Robe store and got their matching tie.

I made them out of felt, super easy!

We then had our traditional wizarding feast and dug into all the good food!

I wanted another excuse to use my wax seal so I made more envelopes as place cards. It really felt like the great hall in our house!

At dinner I had “Butter Beer” from the Leaky Cauldron. I saw some awesome recipes online but wanted something very fast and easy so I just did cream soda with whip cream and caramel sauce haha. Next time I will do a real one. But the kids loved my version too.

After dinner we went to Gringotts Bank!

They had to pass Platform 9 3/4 to get to the basement where the bank was. A lot of kids brought their ticket invites to the party and handed them to me before they passed through. It made me so happy!! Best party ever!

This was our “bank”. I filled the piñata with a bunch of chocolate coins! It was raining money when it broke and it was absolutely mayhem haha but the good kind :)

After the piñata we did my most favourite activity ever and had Potions Class!

I put them in pairs and each pair had a tray prepared. It’s a hydrogen peroxide and yeast experiment and it was a HUGE success!

I forgot to take an after picture but this is from the site I found it on. The kids absolutely loved this part! It was so fun. Way better than vinegar and baking soda and it stinks a little bit which made it even better like a real potion!

We then did divination class.

I had dried food colouring on the bottom of some glasses and then covered it with ice so they couldn’t see the colour. Then when we filled the glasses with sprite it turned colour and they all freaked out! It was hilarious. Their colour told their future.

I forgot to take a picture but Blue = fame, Yellow = impending doom, Green = wealthy, etc. It was awesome!

Some extra decor I had… Ministry of Magic!

I had these wanted posters all over the house,

We then did presents and cake and home time! It was such a great party and Boston had the time of his life. It was a huge success and I wish it weren’t over!

Anyone else want a Harry Potter party!?
